MAU December 2020 Newsletter

Dear Parents, Students, Staff and Friends,

After dealing with the exposure of COVID 19 at our facility we have received a lot of feedback about our COVID policies. Thank you for all your encouragement and appreciation for all that we have been doing. We are working hard to follow protocols in consultation with our licensing and health departments. We also thank you for some additional ideas of protocols to adopt. One that we think we can address immediately is reducing the congestion in the hallways. Starting Monday, December 7th when arriving at school we would like to have your children take their “inside” shoes from the rack and take them into the classroom. The teacher’s will help them change their shoes in the classroom so that the children do not have to sit in the hallway where there is a lot of foot traffic and parents won’t have to congregate in close proximity while they wait for this process to be completed. Please also allow our teachers to help your child when they are leaving and need to change from inside to outside shoes again if necessary. Continue to maintain a 6-foot separation in the hallways from other families to the greatest extent possible.

Thank you to all our families for continuing to help us keep our facility safe. We did not receive any word of additional child or staff cases from our COVID exposure. I would also like to thank all of you for the effort you are making to keep your children home when they are sick and getting them looked at by a doctor to rule out communicable diseases. This really has really helped us ensure we are not at high risk for spreading this disease. We will continue to monitor the situation and make changes as needed.

Our Winter Program is quickly approaching! However, due to the current limitations on groups we will be creating a video of the performance and there will be no in-person audience allowed. We will be filming each class during the day on Tuesday, December 15th. We will record the children performing their musical numbers and then will edit a video for the parents to view. We will send out a link to the video when it is available. We are hoping to have it completed by Friday, December 18th. Each class will be asking your children to wear certain attire for this occasion. Your child’s teacher should be sending some info out about what they should dress in soon.

The staff here at MAU are an amazing group! We are proud of the care they have provide during these challenging times. We want them to feel appreciated during this holiday season and so we are making a paper Christmas Tree in the hallway for each classroom. There will also be paper ornaments that you can take home, decorate and write some notes of appreciation. When you are finished you can return them to the office and we will affix them to the tree so the teachers can see how much they are appreciated by our students and families. Thank you for helping us spread the cheer, I am very thankful to the parent who suggested this! Wishing you and your family a very Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!

Sincerely,

Adam Thewes, Director
